Yesterday we discovered a Robin working diligently on it's half-finished nest. The amazing thing about this nest is that the Robin is making it in a bush that grows right outside my bedroom window. The nest is right at my eye level. We are keeping the shade closed, as to not scare the bird away.
I thought it was a male Robin, due to it's colorful breast, but after Wikipediaing "American Robin," I learned that only the female Robin makes the nest.
We weren't going to tell Ella about the Robin until her nest was completed. I was too excited and told her about it today. She promised not to open the shade, or pester the bird. Ella named the bird after herself. The daddy Robin is nowhere to be seen, but Ella has named him "Nate."
Ella is predicting 2 eggs will be laid, I predict 3 and John predicts 4. Robins lay 2 or 3 times during the nesting season. Typically, they lay 2 to 5 eggs in each clutch.
